| Bearnett House aims to provide residents with a
secure, relaxed and homely environment in which their care, well being
and comfort is of prime importance. Carers will strive to preserve and maintain dignity, individuality and privacy of all residents within a warm and caring atmosphere, and in doing so will be sensitive to the residents ever changing needs. Such needs may be medical/ therapeutic (for physical and mental welfare), cultural, psychological, spiritual, emotional and social. Residents are encouraged to participate in the development of their individual care plans in which involvement of family and friends may be appropriate and is greatly valued. It is the objective of Bearnett House to provide care to all residents to a standard of excellence which embraces the fundamental principles of good care-practice, and that this may be witnessed and evaluated through the practice, conduct and control of quality care in the home. In order to meet the residents needs the care service within the home is designed to achieve the following: To deliver a service of the highest quality that will improve and sustain the residents overall quality of life in a people orientated way. The care-service is designed to meet the requirements of a recognised accredited quality standard i.e. Quality Standard ISO 9000. Staff Bearnett House has been run by the registered manager since it opened in 1987. As a registered nurse the manager is responsible for the day to day running of the home, taking an active interest in the care of individual residents. Living just a few hundred yards from the house the manager is always available should needs arise. A Deputy Care Manager, who has level 4 NVQ in care of the elderly, assists the Manager in her daily routine. All of the six senior carers have been employed at Bearnett House for a minimum of six years and have achieved level 2 NVQ. The junior carers are trained 'in-house' with first aid, manual-handling techniques, food handling and fire safety courses held each month. |
